About SSC Selection Post
The Selection Post Examination fills a wide range of posts in central government ministries, departments and offices that are not covered by SSC's other recruitments. SSC advertises them together in phases; Phase XIV was advertised on 13 April 2026.
Posts are grouped by the minimum educational qualification they need: Matriculation, Higher Secondary (10+2), or Graduation and above. There is a separate computer-based test for each level, and a candidate who applies for posts at two or three levels sits each level's test once.
Every level's test has the same shape: General Intelligence, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Language, 25 questions each, 2 marks a question and 0.50 off for a wrong answer, in 60 minutes with a sectional timer of 15 minutes for each part. The difficulty follows the level, except that Quantitative Aptitude is set at 10th standard for the Graduation level too.
The test is held in English and Hindi; the medium is chosen when applying. Candidates who clear the test upload their documents for scrutiny by the department that owns the post; some posts also have a qualifying skill test such as typing or data entry.
